Although movable pool floor technology has evolved
significantly in recent years, the concept is nothing new. In fact, the
flexibility, versatility, and safety offered by these systems have been
recognized and embraced by public facilities for decades.
Akvo is pleased to highlight a recent project completed at Oak Hill
High; a community high school located in central Indiana. The Oak Hill
United School Corporation prides itself on its sports programs that
benefit directly from the school’s modern sports facilities catering to
young athletes.
Oak Hill’s original swimming pool featured a hydraulic movable pool
floor installed in 1978. For several years, the school had been
experiencing issues with the system: unwanted tilting of the movable
pool floor, hydraulic fluid leaks and frequent breakdowns requiring
regular maintenance. These issues, typical of old hydraulic
installations, prevented Oak Hill from using their facility to its full
potential and posed risks to the health and safety of students and staff.
Oak Hill went out seeking to replace the movable pool floor with the
assistance of RLTurner Corporation, a local general contractor
specializing in construction and renovation of schools and public
facilities.
Surprised by the original manufacturer's price to replace the system
and conscious of their past experience with hydraulic
technology, Oak Hill shopped around for alternatives.
Akvo Spiralift’s approachable team, versatile technology, and budget
sensitive solutions, made the choice simple!
The strength of Akvo’s in-house engineering team and patented Spiralift
technology make this product the most adaptive movable pool floor
solution on the market. This adaptability is invaluable for retrofit
projects.
In the case of new-build pools, clients have the flexibility to
modify site characteristics to facilitate installation of a
movable pool floor. For retrofit projects, these variables are often
pre-determined and cannot be changed without significant investment.
Akvo’s flexible design approach facilitates the integration of a
movable pool floor without the need for significant site
modifications.
