A down-under dip done differently

July 31st, 2025

In sunny Carnegie, Australia, the town’s Memorial Swimming Pool recently underwent a massive transformation. What used to be a seasonal outdoor pool has now evolved into a state-of-the-art, accessible, and sustainable year-round aquatic and leisure facility.

The new grounds are meant to serve an even larger and more diverse population of swimmers and athletes, from Carnegie’s littlest learners to visitors looking for a serene soak. A 50m swimming pool, dive pool, splash pad, wellness pool, and learn-to-swim pools come together to create a mosaic of aquatic amenities, alongside indoor facilities like program rooms, allied health services, and a café.

The entire facility runs on 100% renewable energy – a winning combination of solar panels, rainwater harvesting, and intelligent energy systems. This savvy setup earned them a Six Star Green Star Design rating, a designation awarded by the Green Building Council of Australia that celebrates world leadership in environmentally sustainable building practices.

During the revamp, our team equipped the learn-to-swim pool with a new kind of movable floor: one that can accommodate two fully customizable depths at the same time thanks to a connecting ramp. This innovation was developed and manufactured with the help of our partner Fluidra Australia.

This ramp provides a safe passage between each section, allowing Carnegie to host different class types at the same time within the same space. For example, creating a shallow end for toddler swim lessons and an aqua gym session in the deep end – though the options for custom depths are limitless. The floor can also be configured to create a single, uniform depth or raised to deck level for safety and energy conservation purposes.
