Accessibility for all in Inverell, Australia

July 28th, 2026

The pool should be for absolutely everyone. But all too often, the solutions that bridge leisure activities and accessibility are a hassle to operate, not to mention an eyesore. We completed a project in Inverell, Australia that explores the cutting edge of what’s possible in inclusive aquatic spaces using Spiralift technology.

A human-centered experience

Traditional pool access solutions often rely on portable hoist or gantry-style lifts, which are visually intrusive and require staff assistance. We chose to integrate the access lift directly into the movable pool floor for a far more elegant result that is profoundly human-first.

Instead of being transferred into a sling, basket, or lift seat, users can remain in a stable and secure position as they are gently lowered into the pool. The system is also designed to maximize autonomy: users can operate the lift on their own, whenever they need it, without having to ask a lifeguard or attendant.

Individuals can roll directly onto the platform in a wheelchair or any other assistive device, without the need for manual transfer. It’s a true swim-on/swim-off transition, making pool access completely effortless and natural.

Seamless transitions

While conventional lifts occupy valuable deck space, our solution is fully incorporated into the larger pool floor system. For competitions or special events, the two lightweight railings are easy to remove, and the swim area is completely unobstructed when the lift is at deck level.

Our team has completed countless movable pool floor projects around the world, creating flexible spaces that can accommodate all kinds of swimmers and activities. But this Inverell installation has particularly significant implications for the future of pool use, setting the stage for truly seamless accessibility that places dignity and autonomy at the forefront of it all.
